When you visit Terveystalo as a minor
You can book an appointment with us and take care of your own affairs even as a minor. We have compiled useful information about visiting Terveystalo for you on this page.
As a minor, you can:
- book an appointment with a doctor or another expert
- visit our clinics for appointments
- use our chat and video appointment services
- view your appointment information, prescriptions and, for example, your laboratory results in the Terveystalo app or our online service, if you have your own online banking credentials or mobile ID.
Good to know:
- Every time you visit Terveystalo as a minor, a physician or other health care professional assesses whether you are mature enough to decide on your own medical care. The professional will make an assessment based on your age and level of maturity and the reason for the appointment.
- If the professional assesses that you are not mature enough to decide on your own care, the details of your appointment will be visible to your guardian, and the professional is obliged to contact your guardian during the appointment.
- If the professional assesses that you are mature enough to decide on your own care, you can choose whether the information related to your appointment will be visible to your guardian. In this case, the professional may not contact your guardian without your permission.
- When you make an appointment, you can decide for yourself whether the guardian can see the appointment. This does not require a professional assessment.
How does a health care professional assess whether you are mature enough to decide on your own care?
A physician or other health care professional will discuss the reason for your appointment with you. The professional’s assessment is based on your age, your level of maturity and the reason for the appointment.
How can you view your information in the Terveystalo app or online service?
- You can download our app from App Store or Google Play. See the download instructions.
- You can access our online service by logging in from the top right corner of our website, in the My Events section.
- You need your own online banking credentials or a mobile ID to download the app and use our online service.
When you log in to the Terveystalo app or online service, you can view, for example:
- Your prescriptions
- Your appointment information and medical records
- Your laboratory and X-ray examinations
- Your vaccination information if you have been vaccinated at Terveystalo.
Payment
- If you do not want your guardian to know about your visit, we recommend that you pay for the appointment at the clinic.
- If you do not pay at the clinic, the invoice for the appointment will be sent to the person who booked the appointment.
- If an insurance company pays for your visit, the policyholder will automatically receive information about the appointment.
What if you decide to change your mind on what data is shown to your guardian?
- If you change your mind and want the guardian to be able to see your data or, alternatively, want to prevent your data from being shown, you have the right to request this change during the treatment period.
- Making changes related to the showing of data requires that a health care professional has assessed that you are able to decide on your own care.
- You can request a change to the showing of data when visiting Terveystalo either from a health care professional or at the customer service desk. Alternatively, you can also request a change by sending a message to the professional who treated you or by calling our customer service.
