Checklist for appointments

Please keep the following in mind when you come for your appointment – this is to make sure that you receive efficient and safe care.

Always remember to

  • bring your Kela card to the appointment.
  • inform about your previous treatments and prescriptions.

It is advisable to save your Kela card in the Terveystalo application, where you can also find your appointment history, lab results, prescriptions, and vaccination information. This way, your health information and Kela card are always with you.

At the appointment, please provide the person treating you with all the relevant information related to your visit – even details that may seem minor to you are worth mentioning.

Remember to mention

  • any allergies or other illnesses you have.
  • any medicines you are taking – products prescribed by a physician, over-the-counter (OTC) products and herbal remedies.
  • if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, or if you are breast-feeding.

Don’t hesitate to ask if you are unsure about anything – our medical staff are there for you.

If more information about your health is needed, you will be referred to lab tests or X-ray examinations. You will be explained how you will receive the results. Most results can be viewed in the Terveystalo application.

After a health examination appointment with an occupational health nurse, you will be referred to an occupational health physician, occupational physical therapist, occupational psychologist, or other expert, if necessary.

If you want to record your appointment, please discuss this in advance with the person treating you. Terveystalo's professionals have the right to refuse to participate in a treatment event that is recorded without their consent.

Start using the Terveystalo app

The Terveystalo app keeps track of your health information and provides fast access to a physician round the clock. When you use remote services, you don’t have to wait or make an appointment. All your appointment and prescription information is also conveniently stored in the app. Download the Terveystalo app from App Store or Google Play.

Long-term care at Terveystalo

As part of Terveystalo's integrated care pathway, the aim is to ensure appropriate care in accordance with the national Current Care recommendations for the following long-term conditions: type 2 diabetes, hypertension or high cholesterol. In practice, this means that the individual situation of the customer is assessed on the basis of his or her personal data in an automated way, i.e. without the presence of a healthcare professional. The aim of the automated assessment is to ensure that the treatment is delivered appropriately.

The automated assessment is based on the diagnosis of the long-term illness in the medical records of Terveystalo's occupational health care, the events to Terveystalo's occupational health care (follow-up visits, examinations) related to the treatment of the illness and the content of the customer’s occupational health care. These data are processed for the purposes of organizing, planning, implementing and monitoring the customer´s treatment. More information on the processing of personal data here.

If, based on the automated assessment, the treatment of the customer does not appear to be in accordance with the national Current Care guidelines, a Terveystalo professional will contact them to assess the treatment and, if necessary, refer the customer to the necessary examinations and to a professional. The contact with the customer and the information related to their treatment are confidential and will not be disclosed to the employer. The customer may also contact Terveystalo on his/her own initiative to assess the need for treatment of their long-term illness.
