Mielen chat will now provide an uninterrupted path for workers in serious situations
The low-threshold wellness service, Mielen chat and sparri, has been part of Terveystalo's services since 2018. The service was born out of the need to provide support for wellbeing and coping, especially for young people starting their careers, when their minds are in turmoil at the delicate juncture of transition to working life. The service has been systematically developed over the years based on customer experiences and needs, and today Mielen chat and sparri is a service suitable for all staff in an organisation to help them unburden their minds from everyday worries and strengthen skills that support mental health.
For the majority of people who seek the service, Mielen chat and sparri is the right service as a proactive package to support mental wellbeing. Recent years have been stressful in many ways, which may have also brought previous traumas to the surface. Our experts have noticed that mental ill-health is still on the increase and that more and more serious situations are arising. In particular, Mielen chat is increasingly being used by people whose situation requires acute medical assessment and treatment, for example because of suicidal thoughts or severe depressive symptoms.
We also want to ensure an uninterrupted pathway for those employees whose situation requires medical intervention and where a service focused on wellbeing support does not meet this need. This is why, from the beginning of June, we will allow Mielen chat to become a health service if the situation is described as serious and the employee who has accessed Mielen chat wishes to do so. This change will not entail any intervention for our clients and the Mielen chat operator will remain the same. The Mielen sparri part of the service will not be affected by the change and it will still be possible to work on skills that support mental wellbeing and unburden oneself from everyday life in situations where there is no need for health care.
The change, made with the permission of the worker, allows us to make patient records for Mielen chat and information about the situation is transmitted uninterrupted to the caregiver. If the nature of the service is changed with the client's permission, no VAT is added to the price of the Mielen chat. Otherwise, pricing remains unchanged.
